Flowers for Mom: A Fundraiser

May flowers are blooming for mothers and babies in our region! We teamed up with Zuzu's Petals to raise money for our local Children's Miracle Network hospital this month. For each bouquet sold, the Co-op will donate $5 to support mothers and babies in the NICU at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. This offer is good throughout the month of May.

Jane Klinefelter is the owner-operator of Zuzu’s Petals, and she and her husband Sebastian have a very personal connection to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Read the Klinefelter’s story below.

The Klinefelter Family

“In 2010 my husband Sebastian & I had an unexpected pre-term birth. Our plan was to have a natural home birth with our midwife Rhione by our side. As fate would have it, it didn't work out that way... We were very fortunate to have the care and support of the Asante NICU, during one of the most significant moments of our lives. Little did we know they would be there for us twice more.

The kindness and compassion shown by the Asante staff helped ease the stress we experienced. We were especially touched by the heartfelt donations made by caring members of the community and it has inspired us to do the same. The gifts of quilts and little knitted hats brought back the joy & warmth that had been momentarily lost in the emergency setting. In 2011 we returned to give birth to our son. In just one year the NICU had developed into an entire wing of the hospital, accomodating families whose lives were turned inside out. Asante was there during our time of need, not only by taking excellent care of our children, but showing concern for the parents as well. We are blessed to have this level of care in rural Southern Oregon.”
